Injection capacity at UK's Rough natural gas storage reduced for works
DateTime: 2015-8-13 13:24:20

Injection capacity at the UK's largest natural gas storage facility, Rough, will be reduced by about 83% until Thursday morning for maintenance works, Centrica Storage Ltd. said in an updated REMIT message Wednesday afternoon.

The outage, for "essential valve maintenance" according to CSL, began at 06:00 am (0500 GMT) Wednesday and is expected to last until 10:00 am Thursday.

During the works, injection capacity at the Rough reservoir, normally 24 million cu m/d given current stock levels, will be reduced to 4 million cu m/d.

Nonetheless, injection nominations for Wednesday were 16 million cu m, according to Eclipse Energy, an analytics unit of Platts.

National Grid figures put Rough stocks at 2.615 Bcm at the end of Monday's gas day, with Centrica Storage Ltd. announcing late Tuesday that single train injection is due to begin when stocks are between 28 TWh and 29.5 TWh (between 2.646 Bcm and 2.778 Bcm).

Single train injection occurs when the pressure within the Rough reservoir reaches a critical level, and will reduce injection capacity from 24 million cu m/d to 12 million cu m/d once single train injection commences.
