Shell says aiming for quick fix of leaking Nigerian gas pipeline
DateTime: 2015-8-10 14:54:57

Shell has begun repair works on a leaking gas pipeline in the eastern division of Nigeria's Niger Delta region, to quickly restore gas supplies to the six-train Bonny LNG plant, a company spokesman said Friday.

"Shell is working to repair the line and restore gas supply as soon as possible," the spokesman said. "This is a gas line so there is no crude oil leak."

A joint investigative visit will be held to determine the cause of the leak, he said.

Shell accounts for about 40% of the 3.5 Bcf/d of gas feedstock supplied to the Bonny LNG plant to produce 22 million mt/year of LNG.

The cut in gas supply by Shell has forced NLNG Ltd., which owns the Bonny LNG plant, to reschedule cargo shipments, the company said Thursday.
